Second Annual GSSEF “Feeding Florida Together” Food Drive
Local food banks need your help to stock their pantries and prevent hunger in Southeast Florida! Join us for our Second Annual GSSEF “Feeding Florida Together” Food Drive, and help us to collect non-perishable food items during the month of March 2010.
Learn the alphabet and numbers, as well as signs for everyday communication. Nancy has been an ASL interpreter for the past ten years in the Broward School System, I can open this beautiful, expressive world to you. Let yourself feel free and get caught up in expressing yourself physically – both easy and fun to learn! Each girl should bring a writing utensil. Grade level: Brownie, Junior
Pack your senses and get ready to sail! Wear your best tropical attire and come journey to the island of Hawaii. Move to the rhythm of the pulsating and syncopated drum beats, and dance with the hula dancers.

Native American Indian Lore
Come to Camp Nocatee for this Junior Jamboree and earn the Native American Indian Lore Patch. The girls will be making Indian Fry Bread, beaded necklaces, rain sticks, playing games and much more as they learn about American Indians.

Sweets Galore
A trip to Kilwin’s in Las Olas provides an in depth look at the production and (more importantly for most) sampling of chocolates, caramels, and other sweet treats. During the program, led by an experience chocolatier, girls will learn the secrets of how to make hand dipped chocolates, gooey caramel apples, and other delicious treats.
Insects have been eaten by many cultures for hundreds of years. This program discusses the nutritional value of insects, insects in your food and let’s you sample some chocolate-covered insects for yourself. All participants will receive an “I ate a Bug Club” button.

Digital Animation
Welcome to the wonderful world of computer animation! If you’ve ever wanted to make your own animated video, ToonBoom® is a great program to start with. During this workshop, you’ll draw characters and backgrounds, and add sound effects to your own animated mini-movie clip.
Girl scouts of all ages can spend an enjoyable afternoon at Miami Seaquarium learning about aquatic animals and their habitats while completing a corresponding Girl Scout insignia.

Skin-Tastic Fun

Girls will learn the basics of skincare by instruction and application. Pamper your face with cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing and fun! Each girl will have her own tray and mirror to learn what her skin needs and how to apply it.
This is an opportunity for adult volunteers to learn how to conduct flag ceremonies with girls in your troops/groups and learn to sing and teach patriotic songs. Many of the things you will take back to your troop will help the girls with their patch, badge and try-it activities.

Seniors and Ambassadors.
Partner with other Girl Scout Councils in the State of Florida to take on Tallahassee!Girls will participate in activities focused on advocacy and action during the Florida Girl Scout Conference on Saturday and Sunday. Monday, Girl Scouts will hit the Capitol for Legislative Day!

Dragon Boating
Have you ever ridden a Dragon? Come see what it’s all about. Girls (and adults) are broken into teams and compete against each other by racing in the Dragon Boats. Some girls will take turns being the drummer making sure their teams follow the beat of the drum to win.
Experience a day in the life of a princess. All girls will get to decorate their own princess tiara to wear along with other royal accessories. Then, she will receive a make-over with glitter lip gloss, glitter eye shadow and magical glitter dust.
A workshop for Service Unit Recognition Chairs, and others who would like to support our efforts to nominate adults in Girl Scouting for recognitions sanctioned by GSUSA and GSSEF. No cost to attend - registration is necessary.
