Its Your Summer CAMP IT 2010
Think you’re green? This session asks, how green can you really be? The new Journey series, “It’s Your Planet – Love It!” inspired this summer camp session for the ultra-green! At camp we are already surrounded by nature’s beauty – now add this exciting environmental quest to make your own “footprint” on this summer.
Pack your spirit for adventure and prepare to get dirty. We will creatively reduce, reuse and recycle natural and man-made materials when campers decide what project to learn, such as; purify water, make paper, plant trees, harness wind power, grow food, create solar power, make compost, make clever crafts from recyclables and create habitats for animals. Try dozens of cool things to make your world a greener place!
At Camp Nocatee we will also “see the world upside down” with professional tree climbing, hitting a bull’s-eye in archery, and exploring the creatures in the lake. Count on even more fun with fire building, outdoor cooking, and the challenge of canoeing (and fishing) on the open lake. Campers may choose to earn some requirements for “The Earth is our Home” and “Earth and Sky” Try-Its (Brownie); “Eco Action” and “Environmental Health” badges (Junior); and “Eco Action” and “Outdoor Survival” IPP (CSA).
Look for an owl on a nighttime hike…look for the secret butterfly garden…look for ways you can make a difference. But look no further for a session with Girl Scout fun, the great outdoors and an environmental twist you’ll never forget!
