2011 2012 Council - wide Community Service Opportunities

2011 – 2012 COUNCIL-WIDE COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

As Girl Scouts we promise to “help people at all times” and “make the world a better place.” What better way to demonstrate our commitment to Girl Scouting than providing community service! Conducting service projects during Girl Scout Week or on Thinking Day is a great way to give back to our community while expressing enthusiasm for the Girl Scout Movement. Please keep in mind that we must follow all Safety-Activity Checkpoints standards and cannot solicit money or directly participate in fundraisers for other organizations.

These are our Council-sponsored community service projects for 2011-2012. The projects are offered so we, as one Council, can combine our efforts (and resources) and fulfill our promise to our communities. We are committed to donating our proceeds, from Council-sponsored projects, to organizations that serve all of the areas within our jurisdiction

ANNUAL BABY BASICS DRIVE
(D, B, J, C, S, A)

October 1-31 2011

The Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida can help others in need by uniting to serve our community! Together we can do our best to show that we are “considerate and caring.” Join your Girl Scout sisters and GSSEF Staff and volunteers for our annual infant supply drive during the month of October. Collect “baby basics” to be donated to local low income family assistance organizations.
Keep an eye out for the official Baby Basics flyer for more detailed information regarding drop off locations and donation lists. Each girl will receive a FREE “2011 Baby Basics” participation patch. Patches will be available and distributed at the Service Unit level following the drive. Participants may choose to collect new items from their community or families within the Unit/Troop – or choose to purchase new items with proceeds from the treasury. Visit www.childstats.gov to learn more about childhood poverty.
