Its Your Summer CAMP IT 2010
Your summer is a blank canvas – make it a masterpiece! Art can be seen by the eye or felt in the heart. We welcome artists of all kinds to come to Camp Nocatee for a week that lights the fuse for your individual creativity to explode! Pack your imagination and become immediately inspired by the majesty of nature, the joy of friendship, the exhilaration of adventure, and a bit of the anticipation of the unknown – and turn it all into art.
Will the star filled sky move you like Michelangelo? Or will it be the branches, trees and wind that whispered to Ansel Adams? Campers will have the opportunity to try a variety of art mediums, such as weaving, plastering, making murals and painting. Bring to life the colors of the kaleidoscope while trying your hand at jewelry design, graffiti, glass etching and the ancient art of origami. Mold and shape your art from clay, sand and mud. Enjoy the artwork “painted by nature” as we hike, canoe, swim, cook outdoors and much more. Campers may choose to earn some requirements for “Art To Wear” and “Stitch it Together” Try-Its (Brownie); “Drawing and Painting” and “Prints and Graphics” (Junior); and “Artistic Crafts” and “Folk Arts” IPP (CSA).
Use fingers – use brushes – use it all! Cover it, smear it, create it, design it, wear it and then show it off from start to finish! As a special addition to our closing resident camp session, camper’s family and friends will be invited to our first-ever gallery showing in Founder’s Hall on our final Friday.
