Impact of a Hurricane Watch or Hurricane Warning on Scheduled Programs/Activities
The hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30. When the National Weather Service issues a Hurricane Watch or Warning for any portion of the Council jurisdiction, during any period of time for which an activity is scheduled, this activity will be automatically postponed or cancelled. After the weather emergency has passed, the Director of Girl Experience will determine if the activity can be rescheduled and communicate with the registrants.

PINK GROUP IS FULL- Please locate the YELLOW group to register for this program. Hear, Ye! Hear, Ye! My ladies, maidens and your Majesties the honor of thy presence is requested by the Royal Council to attend Their Majesties Medieval Mall Madness. Join us and revel at thine Castle, located at Coral Square Mall. Partake in Renaissance themed crafts, games of chance and skill. Visit the castle and joust with your fellow knights. Earn renaissance councils own badges as well as ye olde time favorites. Rejoice and carouse with the Renaissance court as in Medieval Times. Admire the goods at the vendor’s faire, music and merriment will match the Renaissance cast and your festive attire.   Suggested Attire: A tax shall be levied on any who attend upon their Highness's without the proper attire. These must include: What does Girl Scouts mean to your troupe? pick one word and represent it in your troop crest/shield. Examples: Love, Hope, Courage, Strength etc.  Be creative, you can use any materials, Remember Crests/Shields must be self-standing and may not be taped or hung from any mall display, fixture, wall or window etc.  Must include Troupe #. Crests/shields will be judged on creativity by the Royal Council throughout the night. 1st place winners will receive $100.00 gift certificate 2nd place $75.00 gift certificate 3rd place $50.00 gift certificate. Adult Training - Troop Camp Training (TCT) Certification - 3/04/2017

Love camping? Or want to try it for the first time? Want to go camping with your Troop? Then TCT is for you! Completion of Girl Scout Troop Camp Training (TCT) training, it is required by one adult volunteer in your Troop in order for your girls to go camping. This training is designed to help Girl Scout volunteers prepare themselves and the girls they work with to enjoy outdoor experiences together. Training will introduce progression in the out-of-doors, review camp facilities, and provide basic skills for outdoor program. Fire building, outdoor cooking techniques, safety issues, and camp rules and regulations are reviewed. This skills-focused training involves one overnight on camp property. Registration is open to registered volunteers only; No tagalongs are permitted. Cost: $35/per volunteer Food (lunch, dinner and breakfast), training supplies and TCT manual are included in the registration cost. Date: Saturday, March 4-Sunday March, 5, 2017. Check in between 9:30-10:00 AM on Saturday. The class concludes after breakfast and clean-up on Sunday morning. Location: Camp Welaka, 10205 SE Girl Scout Camp Rd, Tequesta, FL, 33469. Information on what to wear, bring and know before you come will be emailed to registered participants prior to the event.

Adult Training - Canoe Certification - 3/5/2017

Interested in leading your troop on local quiet water trips? A canoe trained adult volunteer is required in order to experience this activity with your girls. In this class you will learn to deal with various flat water boating situations. We will practice a variety of rescue situations, and we will demonstrate the equipment necessary to provide a positive and safe experience. Cost: $50 per volunteer. No tagalongs permitted. **This training is physical and you will get wet! Training includes a swim test to be performed in the lake. You will also practice tipping the canoe, falling overboard and climbing back in. Water rescue and canoe safety techniques will be practiced and performed while in the water. Bring (or wear) a swimsuit, towel, dry clothes and closed-toed shoes. Water shoes are acceptable. A manual will be mailed to you with a pre-class reading assignment prior to the class date. Bring a packed lunch, snacks and water.

This class covers key policies and procedures and accountabilities, provides information on setting up your bank account and connects you with resources available to you as a new leader. Any adult member or volunteer is invited to attend; however, this orientation training is required for all new troop leaders and must be taken within 60 days of appointment. Cost: FREE

Adult Training - Archery Certification - 3/12/2017

An archery certified adult volunteer is required for your girls to experience this fantastic sport. You'll learn how to set up and operate a safe, short-term archery program, how to teach, how to maintain program equipment and learn common shooting errors and correction. After taking this class, you can teach your troop (or other troops) archery. Cost: $50

Home Scientist 4/1/2017

Another great Eco-Action Workshop from the River Center! Girls will earn their Home Scientist Brownie badge or Zinni's Daisy Petal. This workshop creates considerate and caring River Center Scientists. Girls will learn about water chemistry, electrical currents, and dive into density! Girls will understand how scientists in our community and around the world help our environment, keep our water clean, and protect animals. This workshop will engage girls to become interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as to become considerate and caring citizens.

Fragrant and Foul? 4/8/2017

Wood Working for Animal Habitats

Wildlife is all around us, you just have to start looking. Junior girls will earn their Animal Habitats badge while Cadettes will earn their Woodworking badge. All girls will learn about wild animals, special and endangered habitats, focusing on Florida wildlife. Girls will investigate and explore local habitats through the River Center's exhibits and aquariums. Finally, girls will help protect animal's habitats and put their skills to the test by creating animal houses. Each participant will leave the workshop with an animal box that they created and decorated themselves to help make their backyard and community more animal friendly. By being good woodworkers and advocates for wild animals, we can all help make the world a better place.

Fish Like a Girl: Younger Girls 5/20/2017

This is a first time opportunity for younger Girl Scouts to get "hooked" on fishing with this workshop for Daisy and Brownie girls. Inspired by the "Run Like a Girl" video, we know that there are lots of things that we can do "like a girl." Girls will learn the basics of fishing with fish identification games, tackle box relay, and casting practice. Girls will get up close to River Center fish and, of course, we will be fishing!!!
