Our annual GSSEF Gold Award Ceremony celebrates the extraordinary achievements of our girl members (6th -12th graders) who have earned the Silver and Gold Awards this year. This inspirational event, open to all ages and troops, is the highlight of our Girl Scouts year as we look back upon the contributions of Girl Scouts in our community who are making the world a better place.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout age 14 -to-18-years old may earn. Someone once described the Girl Scout Gold Award as being “what you really want to be remembered for” in Girl Scouting. The requirements of the Gold Award include the completion of several interest patches, a variety of leadership experiences, career exploration and service projects. The culminating service project allows the Girl Scout to demonstrate her skills and abilities in goal-setting, planning, putting her values into action, that bring about a positive change in her community.
The Girl Scout Silver Award symbolizes an 11- to 14-year-old Girl Scout’s accomplishments in Girl Scouting and community activities as she matures and works to better her life and the lives of others.
Dessert reception to follow. Seating is limited and reservations are required. RSVP by April 22, 2009 to Calandra Hickson at 954-739-7660 ext 214 or email chickson@gssef.org.
