Grimaldi's GS Cookie Cheesecake posterGrimaldi’s Pizzeria, famous for its award-winning, hand-tossed, coal-fired brick oven pizzas and calzones, is partnering with Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida by featuring Girl Scout cookie-inspired cheesecakes to celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie Day on Friday, February 7.

Starting February 7, Grimaldi’s will introduce the Thin Mint Cheesecake along with the Samoa Cheesecake made from the delicious Samoa cookie. The Thin Mint Cheesecake will be a chocolate mint cheesecake with pieces of Thin Mint cookie mixed in, a Thin Mint crust and topped with whipped cream. The Samoa Cheesecake will be a caramel cheesecake topped with caramel glaze and toasted coconut, on top of a Samoa cookie crust and finished with a chocolate drizzle and whipped cream. These special cheesecakes will be available for $5 a slice while supplies last at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, located in Palm Beach Gardens at the Downtown at the Gardens complex, 11701 Lake Victoria Gardens Ave., Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410. All proceeds from the sale of the Thin Mint Cheesecake and Samoa Cheesecake will be donated to Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida.

“We are pleased to partner with Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida for National Girl Scout Cookie Day,” said Cory Lattuca, food & beverage director/corporate chef. “With the addition of the Samoa Cheesecake along with the iconic Thin Mint Cheesecake, we invite the community to taste these extraordinary cheesecakes, where every delicious bite benefits girls in Southeast Florida.”

“It’s wonderful to be able to collaborate with a local restaurant like Grimaldi’s Pizzeria,” said Denise Valz, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida. “Their support helps showcase our Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program, which is the largest girl-led financial literacy program in the country.” At just $4 a box, the Cookie Sale Program provides an important ingredient for leadership by helping girls develop five key skills: Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money Management, People Skills and Business Ethics. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria will continue to offer its traditional dessert menu for guests to choose from which includes: Tiramisu, housemade Cheesecakes—New York Style or Oreo Cookie—priced at $5 each and Grimaldi’s Famous Cannoli for $4.50.

 

 

OOh It’s So Good!

On Friday, February 7, in celebration of National Girl Scout Cookie Day, an episode of the nationally syndicated cooking show, Mr. Food, will showcase Girl Scout Cookies! Mr. Food will be creating mini grasshopper pies using Thin Mints. The episode features footage of girls from our Council and has them joining Mr. Food at the end of the segment tasting the dessert and delivering the show’s tagline. In our area, the episode will air during the WFLX Fox 29 morning news from 7 AM – 9 AM. Jupiter, FL March 20, 2013 – Chocolate, caramel and coconut were a recipe for success for Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida (GSSEF) and Duffy’s Sports Grill. Those were the key ingredients in the Samoa Cookie Cupcake dessert created by Duffy’s during the annual Girl Scout cookie sale program.

With more than 12,000 cupcakes purchased by South Florida dessert lovers, Duffy’s presented Girl Scouts with a check for $6000.  “We’re thrilled that our customers love our special dessert and allow us the opportunity to continue to support an organization like Girl Scouts,” said Paul Emmett, President of Duffy’s Sports Grill.  “Our successful partnership allows Girl Scouts to continue to provide excellent programming and skill building opportunities for girls in our community.”

This is the third year in a row GSSEF has teamed up with Duffy’s, raising a total of $18,500 with their special Samoa Cookie Cupcake dessert. The Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program teaches girls about goal setting, money management, marketing and customer service, and gives them valuable business and entrepreneurial skills that prepare them to be leaders now and in the future.

In celebration of National Girl Scout Cookie Day on February 8, 2013, Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida (GSSEF) has created two special one-day only promotions to support their Cookies for the Military program while giving our community a chance to get FREE Girl Scout Cookies.

GSSEF has teamed up with Duffy’s Sports Grill for the Give a Box, Get a Box campaign.This Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at 22 Duffy’s locations in South Florida, anyone that donates one or more boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the Cookies for the Military program will receive a FREE box of Girl Scouts cookies of their choice while supplies last. In addition, most locations with also have cookie booths set up with Girl Scout troops selling cookies.

If you are unable to make it to a Duffy’s location that evening, you can also donate to the Cookies for the Military program online at www.cookiesforthemilitary.org. All online donations made on Friday, February 8, 2013 will be entered into a chance to win FREE Girl Scout Cookies for a year!

For the fifth year in a row, GSSEF is sponsoring their Cookies for the Military program. The program provides an opportunity to donate boxes or cases of Girl Scouts cookies to our service men and women domestically or overseas.  Cookies for the Military is a great way for our community to support Girl Scouts while sending a “taste of home” to our troops.This year the goal is to collect enough donations for 37,500 boxes of cookies. Because of the generosity of our community members, Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida has sent more than 116,000 boxes of cookies to our troops since 2009.
