gs week

This year, from March 9 through 15, Girl Scouts celebrate Girl Scout Week—a commemoration of the organization’s beginning 102 years ago. Girl Scout Week is celebrated each March, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and ending with Girl Scout Sabbath on Saturday, and it always includes the Girl Scout Birthday, March 12.

The Girl Scout Birthday on March 12 commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization’s first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia. With now 3.2 million members, this year, 2014, represents our 102nd birthday!  There are many ways to celebrate the Girl Scout birthday.  How is your troop marking Girl Scout Week and celebrating Girl Scouts Birthday? Please send photos and a brief description of the activity to kdillon@gssef.org.

Whatever you do … make sure to have a Happy Girl Scout Birthday!
