Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida is hosting their 2nd Annual Indian River County Women of Distinction luncheon on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Quail Valley River Club in Vero Beach. The luncheon will celebrate the accomplishments of five deserving women who represent leadership in five key areas that Girl Scouts focus on in their leadership development and program offerings.
The honorees and their areas of focus are:
- Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM): Amy Borello, PhD candidate, University of Florida
- Financial Literacy: Catherine Lambert, Merrill Lynch
- Healthy Living: Linda Hart, Crazy Hart Ranch
- Environmental Leadership: Kerryane T. Monahan, St. Edward’s School
- Global Citizenship: Bunny Frey, El Hogar Ministries, Inc.
This year the luncheon will feature a keynote speech entitled Executive Decision: Empowering the Next Generation of Women Through Girl Scouts by Lalita Janke, President of the East Florida Chapter of United States National Committee for United Nations Women.
Tracy Carroll and Carole Jean Jordan are serving as the honorary co-chairwomen of the event. Jeanne Selander Miller and Susan Hazard Rimato are the co-chairs of the luncheon and are joined by committee members Jane Faraco, Carol Haffield, Nancy Heinrich, Judi Lomax, Burke Michael-Neely and Beth Murphy.

On Saturday, February 9, 2013, Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida is celebrating 100 years and 100 women at their Girl Scouts Forever Green event. It will take place at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Culminating a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts, the event will honor Girl Scout alumnae and leaders in our community and will feature dinner by the bite, dancing through the night, a live and silent auction and a Signature Thin Mint Martini.
The honorary co-chairs for Girl Scouts Forever Green are Suzi Goldsmith and Donna Mulholland. The event is co-chaired by Nancy Proffitt and Patricia Anne Reybold and they are joined by host committee members Deborah Bennett, Carol Bernton, Terry Gearing, Kimberley Haley, Ada Harris, FrannyLaRue, Henrietta Gurri McBee, Sheila Schwartz, Kimberly Sovinski, Virginia Spencer, Mary Ann Stetson, Melissa Sullivan, Mimi Vail and Rebecca Weiss.
