Girls in this workshop will learn about the butterfly's life cycle, anatomy, and unique adaptations that allow these animals to be so successful. We will understand the amazing Monarch migration phenomenon in Mexico, but also learn about the year-round Monarch populations in Florida. Girls will learn about rare and endangered butterflies in Florida and discuss the species that have been spotter in the River Center's pollinator garden. We will create and design our own butterfly gardens and learn about host and nectar plants. Girls will then meet with specialists that work and study butterflies and their habitats. They will participate in a planting project in the River Center's garden. 

Program will go, rain or shine. 

Girls will earn the Council's Own Butterfly badge. 

No walk-ins or add-ons after the event is closed. Troop transfer is allowed (substitute one girl for another girl.) 

Girls will need to bring/wear: Closed-toe shoes, a snack, a water bottle, sunscreen, hat, drawstring backpack (optional.) Please dress for the weather for this event. 

Adults registered for the program will not have a fee. Adults are necessary for girl/adult ratio and are expected to assist the provider with supervising the girls.
