Help lead the next generation of Girl Scouts
Have you ever wished you could give the girl perspective on issues related to Girl Scouting? Have you ever wondered how some of the decisions are made for our Council? Serving as a Girl Advisory Member of the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida Board of Directors gives you the opportunity to bring the girl perspective into Board discussions while gaining firsthand experience with nonprofit governance and leadership.
Our Board of Directors wants to hear from our girls! We're looking for girls who are interested in learning, willing to participate, and ready to share their perspective. You do not need previous Board or governance experience to apply. If you're interested in serving as a Girl Advisory Member, please complete the application (must be signed and emailed to [email protected]). If selected, your name will be included on the slate of nominees to be voted on at our February 20, 2027 Annual Meeting.
If selected, the Girl Advisory Members will serve from February 2027 through February 2028. Applicants must be at least 14 years old by February 20, 2027 and able to serve the full term. Graduating seniors would not be eligible, as they would be unable to fulfill their full term.
Applications are due by end of day Monday, November 9, 2026.
Eligibility and Meeting Times
If you are a registered Senior or Ambassador Girl Member of Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida, then you are eligible to apply! Applications open in the Fall for Board sessions in the following year. To ensure that all members’ voices are heard and a small-group atmosphere is maintained, seats will be limited.
The tentative dates of the 2027-2028 Board Meetings are below:
- Saturday, February 20, 2027: Annual Meeting & Board Kickoff (9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., GSSEF HQ)
- Monday, April 5, 2027: via Zoom
- Monday, June 21, 2027: via Zoom
- Monday, August 30, 2027: Budget Approval, via Zoom
- Monday, October 4, 2027: via Zoom
- December 7, 2027: Location TBD
- Tuesday, January 18, 2028: via Zoom
- Saturday, February 26, 2028: Annual Meeting & Board Kickoff (9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., GSSEF HQ)
- Except where indicated, all meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.
We will try our best to stick with these dates to allow for planning but may need to reschedule, in which case we will provide members with as much notice as possible.
