UPDATE: New opportunity! The River Center will now offer the Home Scientist workshop as a self-guided badge kit similar to the GSSEF Badge in a Box program. Each registered participant will receive a kit with the instructions and supplies for the workshop either through local pickup or mail. Participants that are registered from the same troop will receive the items for their kit together. Those that choose local pickup will have the opportunity to explore the River Center when they pick up their kit. There will be no formal in-person event to allow for more Girl Scouts to participate in the workshop around their busy schedules due to the cookie sale. The kit can be used independently or as part of your troop meeting.

Once you complete the workshop using the kit, you must complete a survey from the River Center to receive your Home Scientist badge.

You must register the number of girls that you want to receive supplies and badges for through the registration page.

Kits should be ready by the end of January.

Girls will earn their Home Scientist badge. Girls will learn about water chemistry, electrical currents, and dive into density. Girls will understand how scientists in our community and around the world help our environment, keep our water clean, and protect animals. This workshop will engage girls to become interested in science and make interesting discoveries about their natural world.

Brownie Home Scientist badge is included in the program fee.

What to bring: drawstring backpack to carry water bottle, snack, hat/sunglasses, sunscreen.

What to wear: Closed toe shoes with socks and dress for the weather.

This program will run rain or shine. No tagalongs please.
