NOW OPENED FOR JUNIORS & CADETTES!
During this 2-hour program, you will hear about the restoration story and how TNC works to impliment long term, nature based solutions to the changing climate. You'll also be provided with tools to help you get creative during your journaling-journaling sketchbook, magnifying glass, rulers, microscopes, and fallen flora.
Splash into marine science at Blowing Rocks Preserve! This two-hour nature journaling program will teach participants about the ways in which we can practice mindfulness in nature through journaling, as well as the different tools and practices we can employ to better observe and understand the workings of the natural world. Join The Nature Conservancy in exploring the animals and plants under the waves of the Indian River Lagoon through a seine netting activity. Participants will gain a hands-on experience to observe and creatively document aquatic life. Nature journaling can help us to focus attention, enrich our outdoor experiences, and develop skills as naturalists.
Through nature journaling, participants are able to observe and analyze natural phenomena in more depth and form a deeper connection and understanding of the natural world around them. This practice is rooted in STEM-based student-led learning, prompting participants to follow their inspiration and string of questions to form their own hypothesis based on their own observations.
Please note: This is a fully outdoor program that will involve a good deal of walking (up to 1 mile) and getting wet (up to hip length) please dress and plan accordingly.
