5. Care, use, and storage of canoeing equipment

Level 1 Paddling Training is required to lead canoeing activities at programs, camporees/in-gatherings, and taking your troop flat water canoeing. There will be a quiz at the end of the training to check your knowledge of the material covered before the trainer will sign your GSSEF Training Card. Training Objectives:
1. Learn and implement canoe safety procedures to minimize risk during the activity
2. Learn to properly care for canoeing equipment and procedures for removing and storing canoes, paddles, and PFDs
3. Learn canoe strokes, terminology, and best practices
4. Hone your canoeing skills to be able to effectively teach girls how to canoe
