This weekend at Camp Welaka focuses on the Girl Scout Mariner
curriculum that highlights activities on, in or near the water. The
program is open to girls already pursuing their Mariner pin as well as
girls interested in learning more about the Girl Scout Mariner track.
Girls will get in and, on the water, as they connect with Mariner
topics such as Morse Code, knot tying, Leave No Trace Principles,
improving swimming skills, canoeing as well as exploring water quality
and wetland ecosystems.
This year we are partnering up
our Mariners Ahoy program with the Girl Scouts Love State Parks
initiative since Camp Welaka is part of Jonathan Dickinson State Park.
All girl participants will receive their Girl Scouts Love State Parks
patch included in the program fee.
The program cost
includes snacks, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday as well as
breakfast on Sunday.
Girls will not earn their Mariner
pin in just this weekend. The Mariner Girl Scout program is a track to
engage older girls in age-appropriate activities in, on, or near the
water and is a commitment to exploring mariner activities in order to
earn the pin.
Participants will receive a packing list in
the program confirmation email along with other important details
about the weekend.
Adult supervision will be provided by
the Outdoor Crew volunteers along with adults that register for the
program. Registered adults will aid with supervision and program
elements in support of the program.
Registration will
close 9/7/2026.
