Date: Sat Aug 22, 10:00 AM EST - Sat Aug 22, 12:00 PM EST
Join Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida and the League of Women Voters as we lock in, reach out, and make the world a better place in one last Summer Semi-Q event!
Does your Girl Scout want Florida to pass more laws protecting sea turtles? Does she want to make sure kids get healthier school lunches? Is she ready to make these changes now? Of course she is, she's a Girl Scout! And Girl Scouts know they don't have to wait until they're old enough to vote to make their voices heard!
In "Interacting with Public Officials" Girl Scouts will learn how to reach out to local, state, and federal representatives and how to effectively express their opinions and ideas. Then, participants will step up to the mic in a mock press conference! At the end of the workshop, girls will put the wheels of change in motion as they use what they've learned to select an issue they're passionate about and draft out a letter to their representatives!
Girl Scouts who participate in this program will "Connect" and be one step closer to earning their Summer Funshine 2026 patch!
