America is celebrating its Semiquincentennial (that's the fancy way of saying its 250 birthday), and we're celebrating with it! Join the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida and the League of Women Voters for our "Summer Semi-Q Series", a series of badge-earning workshops focused on how girls can do their part to shape the next 250 years of American history!
In "Ensuring Balanced Government" girls will dive in to how our government is divided into three branches designed to distribute power, ensuring that people's voices are heard and that no one branch makes all of the decisions. Girls will spin through several scenariosto see how each branch can check the other two, then make a mobile to see how it all balances out! Meanwhile, adults will participate in their own discussion to brush up on their civic savviness!
Girl Scouts who participate in this program will be eligible to earn their Girl Scouts America 250 patches. Girls who participate in both "Ensuring Balanced Government" and "Interacting with Public Officials" will be eligible to earn their grade-level Democracy badge! Please not that in order to keep this a low-cost program America 250 patches and badges are not included in the registration cost and must be purchased separately.
